No plan is truly unlimited. ChatGPT Plus gives 160 messages per 3 hours on the flagship, Poe uses compute points and Claude works with usage windows. The question isn't whether there's a limit, but when you hit it.
OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, xAI and Mistral bill in dollars. So you pay exchange-rate risk plus 21% VAT. Google and Microsoft bill in the Netherlands in euros including VAT.
Google AI Pro includes 2 TB storage and NotebookLM, Microsoft 365 Premium includes Office, Claude Pro includes Claude Code. Comparing bare chat prices means forgetting those extras.
With Claude, training is off by default; with ChatGPT and Gemini you have to turn it off yourself; with Grok you can barely limit it. For work with customer data that matters more than a few euros.

The standard plan costs around €21 a month including VAT at almost every provider. Entry plans start at €7.99 (Google AI Plus) and the heaviest plans run to €200 a month or more.
Among standalone providers, Google AI Plus at €7.99 a month is cheapest, then ChatGPT Go ($8) and Poe Starter ($4.99, but with a daily points limit). Le Chat Pro by Mistral is the cheapest full-featured plan at $14.99.
Yes. Poe has done that since 2023 with compute points, and GoedkopeAI does it for the Dutch market with fixed limits and euro invoices from €12.95 a month.
As a sole trader or BV you deduct the cost as a business expense, and you can reclaim VAT if the provider issues a valid invoice with a VAT number. US providers often issue reverse-charge invoices; make sure your VAT number is in your account.
With every major provider you keep access until the end of the billing period, then fall back to the free tier. Your chats usually stay, but the heavier models and higher limits go away.
